Phyllis Heath Cagney

Phyllis Heath Cagney, 91, a native Glassport, Pa. and longtime resident of Lake Charles, La. sailed away to be with the love of her life on April 15, 2023, in the comfort of her own home.
Phyllis attended Glassport High School with her high school sweetheart, Tom. After Graduation from Robert Morris college, she worked in Washington, D.C. while he attended the Naval Academy (USNA ‘52). They then spent the next two decades exploring the world with the U.S. Navy. She regularly volunteered in base hospitals and clinics before becoming an LPN. She then obtained her Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing. Following retirement they spent half of every year for the next ten years living on their sailboat in Key West, Fla. Following her husband’s death, she relocated to Lake Charles and made it her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Edward Depaul Heath; and her husband, Thomas P. Cagney.
The surviving family includes her two daughters, Nanette H. Cagney and Tamara Cagney, her sister Nancy Crncic; niece, Lynette Mooney; and great-nieces, Shaelyn Mooney and Teegan Mooney.
Phyllis is a Gold Star widow and will join her husband, CDR Thomas P. Cagney (USN Ret) at Arlington National Cemetary where a private committal will be held.
