Evangeline Marie Turner Comeaux, 92, of Porter, Texas, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023.

Mrs. Comeaux was born and raised in Church Point, La., where she met and married her sweetheart of 53 years, Joseph V. Comeaux.  They followed his job to Lake Charles where they lived for 45 years.  Once her daughters started school, Mrs. Comeaux began working as a hostess at Holiday Inn.  Her position involved many areas of service and allowed her the opportunity to meet many people that became dear friends during her thirty-year career. She also worked as an accountant for her husband’s trucking company during this time, and later joined his service to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office where she utilized her hostessing skills as a Deputy for sequestered jurors.  Upon her husband’s death, she relocated to Texas to be near her children and grandchildren.

Her greatest achievement was as an admirable monarch to her family.  She instilled the importance of faith and education to her daughters and grandchildren and found great joy in supporting their school activities, sporting events, dance functions as a chauffeur, chaperone and cheerleader.  She also loved being a grandmother to her grandchildren’s friends.  For fun, she enjoyed walking, mall walking, cheering on the Houston Astros and coffee club with neighbors and friends. During her later years, she enjoyed picking up her friends for outings to countless AARP functions, as well as serving coffee and refreshments to her friends in assisted living.  Mrs. Comeaux devoted a life of love to her family and her faith.  She was an active member and volunteer at St. Henry Catholic Church and Ladies Alter Society.  She will be most remembered for her kind heart, and selfless spirit and delicious Cajun cooking.

She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Wanda Comeaux Harrell of Houston, Texas, and Jena Comeaux Martin of The Woodlands, Texas; son-in-law, Matthew Martin of Humble, Texas; seven grandchildren, Tyson Harrell (Mary) of Columbus, Texas, Matthew Harrell (Candice) of Katy, Texas, Trey Harrell (Romy) of Houston, Texas, Andrew Martin (Elvira) of Houston, Texas, Laura Evangeline Harrell of Houston, Texas, Jillian Martin Clesi (Daniel) of Atascocita, Texas, and Whitney Harrell Franks (Mike) of Hewitt, Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren.
