The Jennings Firefighters Union Local 5239, a labor non-profit organization, will hold a fundraising music festival Saturday to help support the community.

The 2nd annual Music Festival Fundraiser will be held 3-10 p.m. at the Friends Supporting Friends building, 1603 U.S. 90 west in Jennings. Doors open to the public at 2:30 p.m.

The fun-filled music event is an entertaining way to support the community and bring people together, according to Union member and local firefighter Hunter Crader.

“This is the second year we have planned the event with all the money going back into planning next year’s event and helping the community with fires or other natural disasters,” Crader said. “We can step in and help a family in crisis with food, clothing or whatever they need.”

The group also focuses on supporting schools and other local organizations.

“Anyone in the community, having a need, can reach out to us and we will try to help the best we can,” he said.

The event will include live music from local musicians, as well as a live auction, silent baked goods auction, food and more.

The live music schedule for the day include Mike Henry from 3-4 p.m. and Cajun Strong from 4-6 p.m. Kevin Naquin and the Ossun Playboys will close out the event, performing from 8-10 p.m.

A live auction will be held at 6 p.m. featuring more than 30 items including a porch swing, fishing trips, sacks of crawfish, cast iron pots, a barbecue pit and more. A silent baked goods auction will immediately follow.

Hamburgers, pork steaks, nachos, Hunt Brothers pizza and drinks will be sold during the event. Food will be available for dine in or to go orders.

T-shirts and koozies will also be sold.

Admission is $10, with children age 12 and under free. Attendees will be allowed to enter and exit the facility as long as they have a bracelet to re-enter.

A limited number of tickets to the event will be given away on KBON 101.1 FM.

The organization will continue to take donations from local residents and businesses through Friday, April 7. To donate items contact organizers on the group’s Facebook page at JenningsFirefightersUnion. Last minute items will also be accepted the day of the auction.
