Imperial Calcasieu Museum to offer summer art camps

Imperial Calcasieu Museum, 204 W. Sallier St., will host Branch Out: Kids Summer Art Camp for children who have completed grades k-8 to explore their creativity, learn new skills, and have fun in a supportive, engaging environment.

The curriculum will have a Louisiana focus, and the techniques learned will include drawing, painting, ceramics, shape & form, papercraft, and color theory.

All instructors are certified teachers from the Calcasieu Parish School Board. With a student-teacher ratio of 12:1, child renwill benefit from personalized attention and valuable feedback during their time at Branch Out.

Children who attend Branch Out will see their artwork displayed here at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum. The Branch Out exhibit will be displayed in its full glory this August.

With two unique sessions to choose from, kids can participate in a variety of arts and crafts activities. Session One is called Joie de Vivre and will have a joyful, French Louisiana theme. The dates for this session are June 5 – 9, June 12 – 16, and June 19 – 23. Session Two is called Christmas in July and will have a festive holiday theme. The dates for this session are June 26-30, July 10-14, and July 17-21. You can pick one week from each session.

Parents will have the flexibility to sign up for a morning session, an afternoon session, or a full day session. The morning session is from 9-11:30 a.m., the afternoon session is from 12:30-3 p.m., and the full day session is 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
