A Lake Charles man has been arrested for attempted second-degree murder after allegedly stabbing someone twice during a verbal confrontation.

Lake Charles Police Lt. Jeffrey Keenum said the victim became involved in a verbal confrontation with Curtis Demon Adams, 44, on Feb. 12 that escalated into Adams stabbing the victim twice.

Adams then began to choke the victim and physically attack the victim in the presence of a 3-year-old, Keenum said.

The victim was subsequently transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Sgt. Kirt Farquhar was the lead investigator and acquired an arrest warrant for Adams for the charges of attempted second-degree murder, domestic abuse battery/child endangerment, and domestic abuse battery/strangulation.

Judge David Ritchie signed the arrest warrant and issued a bond of $750,000 for Adams.

Adams was arrested by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office on March 8 after a brief foot chase that occurred when deputies attempted to stop Adams on a routine traffic stop. He now faces additional charges of resisting an officer by flight and refusal to I.D.
