LaGrange used a long-range attack to assume control in a 68-47 win over Iota Friday in a non-select Division II bi-district playoff game.
No. 10 LaGrange will travel to play at No. 7 Brusly next week in the regional round. Brusly advanced with a 80-32 win over No. 26 Erath. The Gators (22-7) will enter that game on a 17-game winning streak.
LaGrange drilled seven 3-pointers in the first half and went on a 12-0 run in the second quarter to take control.
Jason Wilson made four first-half 3-pointers in as many attempts for the Gators. Knyles Randall scored eight points in the second quarter for LaGrange, which led 39-24 at halftime.
“We came out kind of sluggish and heavy-legged, which I expected after not playing much for two weeks,” LaGrange head coach Jason Willson said.

The Bulldogs went on a 13-2 run in the third quarter to trim a 21-point deficit to 10, but Wilson answered with his fifth 3-pointer and Omarion Randolph scored on a turnover to extend the Gators lead to 15 points at the end of the quarter. Iota would get no closer than 13 points in the fourth quarter.
Wilson finished with 20 points. Randall added 13 and Calyb Mitchell scored 10.
Barryn Cox led Iota with 11 points.
“We’re playing team ball and rebounding well,” Wilson said. “Early on in the season that was an Achilles heel for us. Lately we’ve been playing good defense, rebounding well and sharing
