No. 21 Leesville (18-12) was seeking a second consecutive road playoff win and a second win this season over LaGrange. The teams split a pair of regular-season games and shared the District 3-4A title.

For most of the second half the Wampus Cars were in control, leading by seven points on three occasions in the fourth quarter.

But the Wampus Cats scored two points over the last 5 minutes. In that span, Leesville missed two field goal attempts, made 1 of 5 free throw attempts and turned the ball over four times.

Wilson and LaGrange forward Kylei LeBlanc combined to score 12 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Gators comeback.

“It was just a matter of them getting out of their own heads,” LaGrange head coach LaKeem Holmes said. “With this team so much of it is mental.

“Leesville had a good team. They always played hard. They were much better than their seed. I didn’t like the matchup, but our kids had belief.”

LeBlanc finished with 22 points. Wilson added 14.

Jade Leday led Leesville with 18 points, including 12 in the first half.

The free throw line was kind early to Leesville. The Wampus Cats made 11 free throws in the first half in taking a 29-28 lead.

Takeirah Harris added 12 points for Leesville, which beat No. 12 Breaux Bridge in the first round.
