Maurice Louis Gold

Maurice Louis Gold, 83, of Lake Charles, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, in the comfort of his home.
Mr. Gold was born in Baton Rouge, La., where he was raised and educated. He was obtained a Bachelor of Science degree, Pre-Pharmacy from Louisiana State University and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Northeast University . Mr. Gold began his career as a Pharmacist in Shreveport, La., with his first love and new bride, Marie. They relocated to Lake Charles where he began a successful career of fifty years. Mr. Gold was the owner and Pharmacist of the Lake Shore Medic Pharmacy in Lake Charles that through the years would extend to locations in surrounding communities. He was an honorable man of superior intelligence, with a warm and witty personality who received much recognition, many awards and was well respected by his peers. He was a Southwest Regional Director and Director at Large for the Louisiana Pharmaceutical Association and was a four-term elected President. He was also a member of the U. S. Pharmacopeia (USP) Board and was a founding member of the Calcasieu Community Clinic. He enjoyed the social gatherings of Krewe de la Noblesse and was an active member of Krewe du Bon Coeur. He also enjoyed being active in community events, was a member of The Investment Club, Kiwanis Club and most enjoyed his later years as a member of the Cowboy Club (Single Action Shooting Society- “Bayou Blast”). He loved the comradery of the Cowboy Club and was excited about his invitation to the Bayou Blast Competition. Mr. Gold looked forward to Poker Night Tuesdays, a long-standing tradition, lunch with friends of each organization each day of the week every week and visits with dear friends. He was faithful member of and investor for of the Temple Sinai.
Mr. Gold will be remembered for his ability to see the best in others as he always treated others in a way he wished to be treated.
He leaves to honor his memory, his much-adored daughter, Debra Gold Foreman and husband Daniel of Lake Charles; step granddaughter, Madeline Foreman of Lake Charles; cousins, Doris and John Baron of New Orleans; extended family and sister of heart, dear friend and invaluable assistant of 20 years, Melidy Calhoon and husband Buck and their family.
He was preceded in death by his first love and mother of his daughter, Marie Brewer Gold; son, Michael G. Gold and much-loved wife of over twenty years, Anita Fields-Gold.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home. Rabbi Barry Weinstein will officiate. Interment services will follow at Hebrew Rest of Graceland Cemetery. Visitation Sunday will be from 12 p.m. until the time of service in the funeral home.
