A Calcasieu Parish man turned himself in to the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office on Monday in connection with the theft of a boat motor from Windmill Lane in Iowa last month.

Justin Wade Arrant, 22, Sulphur, was booked into the Jeff Davis Parish Jail on charges of theft and simple burglary. He was later released.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s office began investigating the theft of a boat motor from the residence on Jan. 13, according to Chief Deputy Chris Ivey.

During the investigation, it was learned that an individual had shown interest in the boat and motor and asked about it, Ivey said. The victim told him it was not for sale and shortly after the motor was stolen.

An investigation led detectives to a residence in Sulphur, where the stolen motor was located, Ivey said.

Arrant has admitted to stealing the boat motor, he said.
