Until then, Anetha’s only learned language was Creole, not learning English until she started school. She graduated from Washington High in 1967 and met her knight in shining armor, Huey P. She achieved these accomplishments all while teaching Special Education at Lake Charles-Boston High School. Several years after retiring from being an educator, Anetha was diagnosed with and valiantly fought against breast cancer. She was victorious in her feat and remained cancer free.
Anetha was a natural teacher and educator. Her favorite subject to teach was Christian Education. She spent over 30 years of her life teaching Sunday School classes; therefore, impacting the lives of numerous people. Within the last several years of her life she was able to complete her life-long goal of becoming an ordained minister. She accomplished this ordination with her church, Mt. Olive Baptist Church, under the pastorship of Rev. Braylin Harris. Although she enjoyed the hobbies of reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with family, her favorite past time activities were swimming with her club, The Aqua Divas, teaching and living the word of GOD.
