Basile has 12 of 14 wrestlers seeded in the top eight in their respective weight classes, including a trio of returning individual champions in Jay Guillory, Luc Johnson and Christian Bergeron. Guillory (19-18, No. 3 126 pounds) and Johnson (34- 1, No. 1 145 pounds) bumped up a weight class this season. Bergeron (23-4) will try to defend his 182-pound title as the No. 2 seed.

Basile will face fierce competition from De La Salle, which finished as runner-up the last two seasons, and Archbishop Shaw. Both schools have four No. 1 seeds and at least 10 seeded wrestlers.

Sam Houston dropped from Division I to Division II and has a pair of No. 1 seeds in senior Pollex Coleman (40-13, 120 pounds) and junior Tyson Roach (54-5, 126 pounds). Roach was the Division I 106-pound state champion in 2022. Caleb Lavine (12-2) is seeded No. 2 at 145 pounds.
