Harley Ennis Hoffpauir

Harley Ennis Hoffpauir, born Aug. 29, 1937, in Lake Charles, La., passed away peacefully on Jan. 7, 2023, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 8 years, Jane Daigle Gilbert Hoffpauir; son, Dale Hoffpauir and his wife Lynne; and daughter, Patti Hoffpauir; son-in-law, Robert Thrasher; step-son, Dr. Timothy Gilbert; step-daughter, Fara Seal and her husband Lenny; grandchildren, Jennifer, Tommy and Bobby Thrasher; step-grandchildren, Presley and Aubrey Gilbert, John and Layla Seal; great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Thrasher; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Cooper and Bonnie Hoffpauir; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Asa Hebert Hoffpauir Sr. and Corrine Spell Hoffpauir; his loving wife of 54 years, Eula Mae Cooper Hoffpauir; daughter, Connie Hoffpauir Thrasher; sisters, Annette Bunch and Fannie Chesson; and brother, Asa Hebert Hoffpauir Jr.
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 35 years and retired in 1992 after serving 20 years as the Postmaster in Westlake, La. He enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling the United States and Canada by RV, seeing God’s wonderful creations. He enjoyed making new friends and always made a point to keep in contact with them through the years. He will be remembered for his love of God, family, and friends. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lake Charles, La.
Visitation at Johnson’s Funeral Home will be held at 11 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2023. The Rev. Ronald Sherer will officiate. Burial will follow at Westlake Memorial Gardens. Following the service a fellowship of family and friends will be held at Bellview Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Thrasher, Bobby Thrasher, Randy Hoffpauir, Tim Gilbert, Lenny Seal and John Seal.
The family would like to thank the caring staff and nurses at Christus St. Patrick Hospital Rehab Unit and Heart of Hospice. Special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Timothy Gilbert, Dr. Ahad A. Lodhi, Dr. Brett Goodwin, and Dr. Keane O’Neal for the excellent care and treatment provided.
