Audrey Malveaux Thibodeaux, age 87, of Lake Charles, La., went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022. She was born Nov. 17, 1935, to Walter Malveaux and Orelia Thierry Malveaux.
She was a long time resident of Lake Charles, La., for all of her adult life but was raised in Plaisance, La., with a rich Creole history as a way of life. Audrey always went above and beyond with providing for all of her family’s needs during her life. While here in Lake Charles, she was a pillar of the community and opened her home to countless families to care for their children and be a nurturing role model for multiple generations. “Mama Audrey,” as she was lovingly known, will live on in the hearts of those that graced her doors. She loved gardening, but most of all, she lead a strong spiritual walk with Jesus. She was a devoted member of Christian World Church. In addition, Mama Audrey was a powerful prayer warrior to all who called on her in their time of need.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Wayne Thibodeaux (Rachel), Carolyn Thibodeaux and Eric Thibodeaux; grandchildren, Nichole Gee, Tiffani Hawkins, Tony Derbigny, Jasmine Carter, Alexis Deville, Trent Thibodeaux and Justin Thibodeaux; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Thibodeaux, Nolan Gee, Nevan Gee, Kyndall Hawkins, Caden Hawkins, Caira Derbigny, Elise Derbigny, Jenaiya Henry, Leyla Henry, Eli Deville and Adalynn Rose Deville; brother, John Malveaux.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 48 years, Herbert Thibodeaux; daughter, Debra Thibodeaux King; brother, Walter Malveaux Jr.; sisters, Alice, Loretta, Sedonia, Rose, Catherine, and Doris; grandson, Darius Thibodeaux.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, beginning at 10 a.m. until time of services. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. in the funeral home led by Pastor Jerry Snider of Christian World Church. Burial will be immediately following at Highland Memory Gardens.
