Donald Charles Griffith

Donald Charles Griffith, 80, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022, in a local hospital. Mr. Griffith was born on Jan. 15, 1942, in Manchester, La., to Clifford Griffith Sr. and Ophelia Griffith. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Donald was a master craftsman and a member of Local 207 Laborer’s Union for over 50 years.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 56 years, Bertrella Griffith; children, Deidre (Earl Jones Sr.) Jones, Kelvin Griffith and Karen Guy; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Laura Rivera (Godmother), LouAnna August, Rita Guidry, Savannah (August) Fontenot and Wanda Darbone; sisters-in-law, Nola Griffith, Linda (Lester) Duhon and Jennifer (Steve) Jacquet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother- and father-in-law, Paul and Mary Thierry; brothers, Wesley Griffith, Clifford Griffith Jr., Herbert Griffith Sr. and Gilbert Griffith; sisters, Ruby Jolivette and Alberta Delahoussaye; brothers-in-law, Joseph F. Guidry, Clarence August, Louis Jolivette Sr., Kenwood Delahoussaye Sr., Jesse Darbonne and Wilbert Simien; sister-in-law, Delores Griffith; and best friend over 50 years, Edward (Gabby) Thibodeaux.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, at 11 a.m. under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. The Rev. Rommel Tolentino will officiate. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with a rosary being recited at 9:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to continue The Donald Griffith Children’s Coat Fund which he started.
