On Nov. 29, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a business on Areno Road in Sulphur in reference to a stolen vehicle. 

During the initial investigation, the complainant told deputies a truck was stolen from the business on Nov. 24. Detectives located the truck, using a GPS tracker that had been placed on the truck by the business, at a home on Sonny Todd Road in Sulphur. Once at the home detectives made contact with a resident, Aaron P. Prestenbach, 41, Sulphur.

During further investigation, using the GPS tracker on the truck, it was discovered the truck was in the same location where two burglaries occurred between Nov. 24 and 28, where numerous items including copper wiring, electrical panel components, and lead roof jacks had been stolen.

After search of Prestenbach’s residence, which is where the stolen truck was located, and surrounding property detectives recovered multiple items that had been reported stolen from the previous burglaries. Detectives, with the assistance of the CPSO Real Time Crime Center, were also able to confirm Prestenbach traveled to Texas on Nov. 28 and scrapped copper wire.
Prestenbach was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He is charged with illegal possession of stolen things; 2 counts of simple burglary; 2 counts of theft from $1,000 – $5,000; theft from $5,000 – $25,000; theft over $25,000; and simple criminal damage to property.  He was released earlier today on an $116,500 bond set by Judge Tony Fazzio.

 The investigations are continuing and more charges are possible.
