Melissa Lea Landry

Melissa Lea Landry, age 51, of Lake Charles, La., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022.
She was born on July 13, 1971, in Baton Rouge, La.
Melissa was a volunteer at St. Patrick’s Hospital Children’s Miracle Network for 17 years. She was named volunteer of the year from 2006 to 2007 and was recipient of the Jefferson Award for public service.
She also received the Louisiana Heroine Award in 2007. She loved her Ainsley’s Angels family.
Despite her disability she was always smiling and she never met a stranger.
She is joined in heaven by her father, Joseph Landry; her aunt, Sue Thompson; her stepfather, Fred McMullen; her paternal grandparents; and her maternal grandfather, William Edward Thompson.
Those left to cherish her memories are her mother, Marsha Thompson McMullen; her grandmother, Betty Thompson; her uncles, Martin Thompson and Bill McMullen and wife Cathy of Kingman, Ariz.; her cousins, Shane Thompson and wife Kammie, and David Thompson and wife Julie; along with numerous great-cousins.
The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home of Lake Charles, Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, from 10 a.m. until 12:40 p.m. with a rosary beginning at 11 a.m. Funeral service will begin the same day at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church at 1 p.m. Father Jace Eskind will officiate.
The family would like to thank the staff on Unit 31 as well as the ICU for their care, especially Hailey.
