H. Lionel Butter Jr.

H. Lionel Butter Jr., 70, of Ragley, La., entered eternal rest Oct. 26, 2022.
Lionel was born Sept. 18, 1952, in Lecompte, La., to the late Imogene Mouhot and H. Lionel Butter Sr. He lived most of his life in Lake Charles and Ragley.
Lionel graduated from Lake Charles High School and McNeese State University completing his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. He worked for the United States Postal Service for many years before retiring.
Lionel played competitive tennis and became an accomplished player. He was a player and captain on many Lake Charles N.T.R.P. tennis teams and played doubles on the Lake Charles Men’s NTRP Team that won a National Championship in Indian Wells, Calif. He took a road trip to the Indian Wells tournament so he could bring his dog Brunet.
Lionel looked forward to the annual trip to Watercolor, Fla., with his friends where he enjoyed chauffeuring the group to and from the tennis courts and the beach.
Lionel is survived by his nephew, Brandon Butter and his wife Mickenzie. He is also survived by his sister, Aquilla Young; and brother, Larry; and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; and sister, Vickie Dartez. He was known as “Peanut” by his nieces and nephews.
Lionel will be missed by his family and friends, especially the Watercolor Group.
A celebration of Lionel’s life will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at 3 p.m. 399 Getter Parker Rd Reeves, LA 70658.
