The CyPhaCon Pub Crawl is officially returning to Lake Charles on Saturday, Oct. 29. Southwest Louisiana adults will have the opportunity to gather together in costume to celebrate Halloween and experience several downtown hotspots.

This will be the 7th Halloween Pub Crawl that CyPhaCon has hosted. Garrett Manuel, CyPhaCon guest relations director, said the first Pub Crawl in 2016 was created as a marketing tool. “It began as a way to advertise our convention to a select audience about CyPhaCon for that coming year,” he said. “Our goal was to bring a free-to-attend event to Lake Charles that 21 plus adults could enjoy.”

Since then, the event has evolved into an annual celebration of Southwest Louisiana culture, for citizens with both classical and alternative tastes. For us it’s simple, we are a festival town and we need events, big and small, for our community.,” explained Manuel. “The Halloween Pub Crawl allows attendees who might not experience downtown a chance to try local restaurants and meet new people.”

For those at CyPhaCon events like the Halloween Pub Crawl serve as an opportunity to give back to those that are loyal supporters of the annual convention. “Our experience in hosting these events gives us a unique opportunity to give back to our community who have given us so much.”

Last year’s event was well attended. Approximately 400 wristbands were given out, which shattered the event’s previous records.

This is a free Halloween celebration. Participants, over the age of 21, will start their night at the Pujo Street Cafe, where they will pick up their wrist bands. These wristbands take care of cover charges and give participants exclusive access to unique drinks at all participating locations.

Each location on the Crawl has created their own custom drink using BayouRum liquors. Manuel confirmed that the drinks will be affordable, and prices will be set by the
individual locations.

Participants are encouraged to get into a spooky spirit and dress up. “It’s Halloween, so dress in your best Halloween costumes!” he said.

The event begins at 5 p.m. Participants will be able to receive their wristband until 10 p.m. when Pujo Street Cafe closes. The night will end at 1 a.m. at MacFarlane’s Celtic Pub. A drawing will take place for participants that visited every location on the Pub Crawl. Prizes will include free passes and gift cards from various local businesses.
