Richard Paul Fontenot, age 81, of Vinton, La., passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, in his home. Richard was born on Sept. 26, 1941, in Mamou, La.
Richard worked at DuPont and Westlake Chemical as a Pipe Fitter Welder until his retirement in 2006. To many of his co-workers he was known as “R.P.”. He was a longtime member of Welsh Memorial UMC. He loved cooking, gardening, sitting on his swing, and especially spending time with his family.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Lilly Deshotel Guillory and husband Clemel; his father, Dolzie Fontenot; brother, Harry Lee Fontenot; and sisters, Jimmie Lee Fontenot and Sandra Guillory.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Lillie Belle Fontenot; daughter, Paula Cavello and husband, Joseph; daughter, Leah Logan and husband, Alan; grandson, Ryan Logan and wife, Megan; grandson, Ruston Logan and fiance, Bailey; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at Vinton Welsh Memorial United Methodist Church and will resume at noon until time of service on Friday.
Funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. on Friday at Vinton Welsh Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rick Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Niblett Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton.
