Vinton, Barbe roll to easy wins

MOSS BLUFF — A weather delay kept Vinton off the field for 45 minutes, but the Lions made up for lost time with a host of big plays in a 34-6 win over Pickering Friday night in the opening game of the SPOT Therapy Jamboree at Sam Houston High School.
Logan Beard scored on a 42-yard run and set up another touchdown with a 37-yard reception as the Lions raced out to a 22-0 halftime lead.
Jacob Rogers scored on a 1-yard run and Conner English returned an interception 45 yards for another touchdown.
Damion Briggs scored on a 5-yard run early in the second half to extend the Lions lead to 28-0.
Pickering got on the board midway through the second half on a 46-yard run by quarterback Sean Glover down the left sideline.
Vinton capped the scoring on a 29-yard pass from Braylon Beard to Xavier Riggins.
Beard finished with two receptions for 57 yards on two rushes. Rogers completed 4 of 7 passes for 61 yards.
Xavier Mitchell had 25 yards rushing for Pickering. Anthony Berry intercepted a pass to set up Glover’s touchdown run.

The Bucs flexed their big play ability in the first half to take a 25-0 lead.
The Bucs scored on the first play from scrimmage with Will McClain hitting Jamaal Levi with a 79-yard TD pass.
Eric Jones scored on a 24-yard run around right end on the next possession.
McClain connected with Landon Victorian on a 20-yard TD pass to stretch the lead to 19-0. Jones broke loose on the last play of the half for a 78-yard TD run.
Jones ran for 135 yards on seven carries in the first half. McClain completed all five pass attempts for 116 yards in the first half,
DeRidder gained 26 yards and two first downs in the half.
The lone score of the second half was a 28-yard field goal by Barbe’s Keegan Feaster.
McClain finished 6-of-6 passing for 130 yards. Jones had 147 yards on nine carries.
DeRidder was held to 56 yards of offense. Alex Archield led the Dragons with 29 yards .
