Beauregard Parish Deputy Brittany Smart was praised recently by Sheriff Mark Herford for her outstanding service to the department, naming her the BPSO Deputy of the Month.
A 2004 graduate of DeRidder High School, Smart worked in the medical billing and coding field while attending McNeese State University and in 2014 she began her career in the Criminal Division at the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, working to properly file and document paperwork in the department’s civil office.
Herford said Smart is one of the “behind the scenes” deputies that is not as often seen by the public, but still very much provides an invaluable service to the community.
Smart assists in multiple departments that keeps the department running, Herford said. Just some of her duties include preparing paperwork for hearings, inmate billing and records, and completing time sheets.
“In the last eight years, Brittany has proved to have remarkable work ethic,” Herford said.
“During her time with us, she has shown a willingness to go above and beyond and even outside of her job duties to assure the success of the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office. I and her supervisors thank her and look forward to many years of continued outstanding service.”
