Two people have been arrested after a firearm disturbance was reported at a Lake Charles gas station.
Lake Charles Police Sgt. Larry Moss said when officers arrived at the Busy Bee Gas Station at 3005 Lake St. on Sunday morning, they saw a blue SUV parked near the gas pumps. When they activated their emergency lights and gave verbal commands for the occupants to exit the vehicle, the driver — later identified as Dion McTier of Lake Charles — instead drove out of the parking lot.
Moss said officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but McTier refused to stop and lead officers on a vehicle pursuit.
He said officers were forced to deploy stop sticks, which McTier ran over, deflating both driver’s side tires. The vehicle came to a stop in the 3000 block of June Street.
McTier along with passenger Bailey Tolbert of DeQuincy were both placed under arrest without further incident and then transported to Calcasieu Correctional Center for confinement.
McTier was charged with possession of a firearm by convicted felon; aggravated battery of a police officer; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Tolbert was charged with possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia; and illegally supplying a felon with a firearm.
