Arrest made in Sunday double shooting in LC

Officers with the Lake Charles Police Department SWAT Team have arrested a 19-year-old Lake Charles man in connection with a shooting last weekend in the area of Bank and Sycamore streets.

At 8:45 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the area in reference to multiple reports of gunfire in the area.

During the course of their investigation, detectives learned two subjects were walking down the street when a vehicle pulled onside of them and its occupant began shooting from the vehicle before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. The subjects, who suffered gunshot wounds, were a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male. The 18-year-old male was treated and released from a local hospital and the 17-year-old remains hospitalized in stable condition.

Through witness statements and evidence obtained from the scene, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Jamarcus Dahanta Miller.

At about 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, officers with the SWAT team arrested Miller, without incident, in the area of 4th Avenue and 10th Street.

He is being held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center on two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Judge Tony Fazzio set bond at $300,000.
