Cowgirls sweep doubleheader from Lions

McNeese continued its offensive onslaught and extended its winning streak to nine games with a pair of mercy rule wins over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, winning 13-1 and 16-1 at Cowgirl Diamond.
In the opening game, leadoff hitter Alayis Seneca set the tone for the Cowgirls (21-14), going 3-for-3 and scoring three runs. Second place hitter Kendall Talley reached base on all three plate appearances with two singles and a walk.
McNeese scored multiple runs in each of its four innings at the plate. Kaylee Lopez had an RBI single in the first inning and Seneca and Crislyne Moreno each scored on an error to give the Cowgirls a 3-0 lead.
Gracie Devall scored on a sacrifice fly by Jil Poullard in the second inning as the Cowgirls scored twice. A RBI single by Reese Reyna and sac fly by Devall highlighted a four-run fourth inning. The Cowgirls scored four more runs in the fourth inning to end the game. Toni Perrin doubled to score Josie Willingham, Reyna had a sacrifice fly and Moreno was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score the final run.
Whitney Tate earned the win for McNeese, allowing three hits and striking out five.

The Cowgirls scored 11 runs in the first inning, highlighted by a three-run double by Lopez, who drove in four runs in the inning. Moreno drove in a pair of runs and scored twice in the inning. Seneca, Talley and Poullard also scored a pair of runs in the inning.
Talley and Poullard hit back-to-back homers in the second inning, while Adriana Ramirez homered in the third.
Talley, Moreno and Erin Ardoin each finished with a pair of hits. Talley and Seneca each scored three runs.
Talley has reached base on all 13 plate appearances over the past four games.
McNeese will host UL-Lafayette at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
NOTE: Talley repeated as Southland Conference Hitter of the Week while Shaelyn Sanders was named pitcher of the Week. Talley hit .889 with seven runs scored and seven runs batted in. Sanders earned a save in the first game of the week then earned her sixth win with a 12-strikeout performance against Houston Baptist.
