U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that Jeremy Talbert, 26, of Memphis has been charged today in a one-count bill of information for his role in bringing a 14-year-old female from Memphis to New Orleans for the purpose of having her perform commercial sex acts in or about October 2020 and continuing until on or about Dec. 17, 2020.

Talbert is charged with sex trafficking of a minor. If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment up to life imprisonment.  The defendant also faces supervised release for a term of five years to life, up to a $250,000 fine, a requirement that the defendant participate in the sex offender registration and notification program, and a mandatory $100.00 special assessment fee.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
