John C. Myers, “Deeda,” a lifelong resident of lake Charles, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the age of 72.
A loyal and loving father, son, brother and friend, John was always there to help anyone who needed anything. In his younger days, John spent his time boating, fishing and cooking with friends. He loved to dance and listen to music. John loved card games with family and friends and was always up for poker night. He was an avid storyteller and always put a humorous spin on anything.
After retiring from Olin Chemical, John was the owner of J.C. Myers Distributing where he was able to share Superall with everyone he knew or met. He was a talented carpenter and loved working with his hands and creating things. This year, he would celebrate 24 years of sobriety, which was a proud, personal achievement for him.
Those left to cherish John’s memory are his daughters, Leslie Gillespie and her husband Matt, and Jaime Myers; his granddaughters, Ayasha Gillespie Cutright and her husband E.J., and Kira Gillespie; his great-grandson, V. Cutright; his brothers, David Myers and Clinton Hutto and his wife Karen; his sister, Donita Dickerson; and the mother of his children, Paula Myers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Laura and Dave Hutto; his brother, Curtis Myers; and his sister, Lynette Keith.
