Norther Wilton Gims passed away at his home, in Katy, on Feb. 25, 2022, at the age of 53 years. He was born on Feb. 3, 1969, in Lake Charles, La., to Stanley Wilton Gims and Ester Mae Richard Gims. He was a graduate of Washington Marion High School, where he was a member of the two-time state basketball championship and participated on the three time all state basketball team. Norther furthered his education at Lamar University, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a concentration in Pre-Law and a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. While at Lamar University, he was a four-time letterman and was proudly awarded as Student Athlete of the Year. On August 31, 2020, he married Cindy Guillory in Houston, Texas.
Anyone who had the pleasure to meet Norther, came away with the knowledge that he was humorous, extremely considerate of others and had the biggest heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy Gims of Katy, Texas; daughter, Kailee Gims of Katy, Texas; son, Cameron Gims of Katy, Texas; step-daughters, Jessica Anderson of Dallas, Texas, and Andrea Anderson of Dallas, Texas; step-son, Charles Anderson Jr. of Dallas, Texas; step-grandson, Caden Anderson of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Jocelyn Faye Griffin of Lake Charles, La., Gerald Lynn Gims of Houston, Texas, and Glenda Lawson of Lake Charles, La.; brother, Stanley Gims, Jr., and his wife Etrulia of Lake Charles, La.; and uncles, Gary Gims of Lake Charles, La., MacArthur Gims of Reading, Mass., and Lawrence Richard of Riverside, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Gims; mother, Ester Gims; sister, Karla G. Reed; grandfather, Norther G. Gims; and grandmother, Daisy Gims.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel, in Katy.
