Two Jennings men have been arrested in connection with a Sunday stabbing.
Strodey James Richard, 24, is being held on a $200,000 bond in the Jeff Davis Parish Jail on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
A second suspect, Damien Ray Boyett, 19, was arrested for accessory after the fact for leaving the scene and evading police. He was released Monday on a $10,000 bond from the parish jail.
A knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack was recovered from a storm drain on Cary Avenue.
Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes said police received a call Sunday afternoon about a subject who went to a residence in the 800 block of West Nezpique Street and told the homeowner he had been stabbed.
“Officers arrived and rendered aid to the victim who had been stabbed in the upper back,” Semmes said.
The victim was transported to a Lake Charles hospital where he remained in stable condition on Tuesday, he said.
While on the scene, Semmes said the victim and witnesses gave the name of the suspects and a description of the vehicle which had fled the scene shortly after the stabbing occurred.
He said officers received information that the vehicle may have gone to a residence on Second Street. Officers went to the residence where they located a vehicle in the driveway with two men exiting the vehicle.
Both men were taken into custody and detained for questioning. During questioning one of the suspects confessed to the stabbing, which led police to a location on Cary Avenue where the knife used in the attack was recovered from a storm drain, Semmes said.
Additional evidence was also recovered during a search of the vehicle, he said.
The motive for the stabbing is not being released at this time, but Semmes said the attack was not random and there was animosity before the victim and suspects.
