Victor Ernest Kullerd, 92, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, Jan. 14, 2022, after a brief time of declining health.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Coralyn Smith Kullerd; daughter, Vicki Lawrence (Jim); and granddaughter, Rebecca Lawrence (Justen Maxham).
Victor was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Alice Kullerd; his dear aunt, Edith Gaudard; three brothers, Ben, Charles, and Ted; and grandson, Jamie Lawrence.
Victor was born March 9, 1929. He graduated from Lake Charles High School, Class of 1947. From boyhood, Victor possessed an industrious work ethic and exhibited his life-long love for building, designing, repairing, creating and improving his surroundings. His long career in industrial design drafting began when he attended Sowela Tech in his 30’s, until finally owning his own company. He retired in 1994.
“We’re going camping, baby!” Victor announced soon after his retirement. Coralyn and Victor purchased their first RV, followed by a decade of adventures on the road. Coralyn and Victor filled those years with precious memories traveling with old friends, making new friends, visiting far-flung loved ones with their own accommodations and their precious yorkie, Tinkerbell, in tow. When they built their dream ‘house’ over 20 years ago, they decided their hearts were firmly planted where their home is. Their neighborhood became their extended loving family.
While Victor loved to “tinker”, his passions included gardening; cooking; baking; keeping up with the news; walking the neighborhood; visiting with neighbors; having an afternoon cup of coffee; watching football-especially the Saints, Cowboys and “Brady Boy”. He had a sweet tooth that never was completely tamed; a very healthy appetite; and was as fit at 90 as any man his age.
Besides our extended neighborhood ‘family’, Victor’s family is deeply grateful to Barbara W. and Linda S. (Home Instead); Nurse Kerri L. (Hospice Amedisys); Evangeline Home Health; Amber B. (Compassionate Care). Dr. Bechnel and Anna Landry, ARNP, are, without a doubt, the most knowledgeable, compassionate and caring part of Victor’s life from the beginning of their journey together to the end.
We will miss him.”Well, done, good and faithful servant, well done!”
