Bro. Dwayne Anthony Rider

Bro. Dwayne Anthony Rider, 51, was called home to the Lord on Jan. 5, 2022.
Dwayne was born July 6, 1970 in Lake Charles, La. and was a graduate of Barbe High School. Upon graduation, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He had a 30-year career in law enforcement, first with the Lake Charles Police Department, where he was a plank holder appointed by Don Dixon to be the first commander of the SWAT team. He then moved to the Cameron Parish Sheriff Office. Dwayne was also a pastor who loved sharing the word of God. He was devoted to his family and loved by all who he came in contact with. He will be missed dearly.
Dwayne is survived by his wife of 27 years, Tammi Guillory Rider; daughter, Hannah Marie; son, Collin Joseph; sister, Tami Triska (Chris) of El Campo, Texas, and Kimberly Thompson (Mike) of Lake Charles; step-sisters, Lisa Adcock (David) of Bryan, Texas, and Sandra Miller (Ryan) of College Station, Texas; step-brother, John Stegall III (Rhonda) of Kinder, La.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Stegall; and father, Gilbert Rider.
His funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022 at First Pentecostal Church. The Rev. Glyn Bogard will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the start of the service.
