An Iowa, La., man has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a woman and the attempted murder of her friend Wednesday night in the 100 block of N. Thompson Avenue.

Iowa Police Chief Keith Vincent said the second victim was transported to a local hospital for gunshot wounds.

Vincent said officers responding to a disturbance call at about 7 p.m. Wednesday night apprehended Sheron Lamar Lewis at the scene.

Lewis is charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

Vincent said the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office FIU department and the Coroners Office are assisting officers.

He said the investigation is ongoing.
