JENNINGS — A Lake Charles woman was arrested Friday after being indicted on a charge of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile. Mary Nykole Labove, 25, is accused of injuring a two-month-old in March.
The case was presented to a grand jury and an indictment was made against Labove.
Additional arrests are expected, according to Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chris Ivey.
The infant was treated at New Orleans Children’s hospital for bruises, broken bones and skull fracture, according to Ivey.
The infant is now in foster care and continuing physical therapy for injuries sustained in the incident, he said.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted Jeff Davis sheriff detectives in locating and apprehending Labove on Friday.
She is being held without bond in the Jeff Davis Parish Jail.
