Jessica “Jes” Ruth Fontenot, our beautiful gift from God, was born in Lake Charles, La. June 21, 1989. She is the daughter of Sheila R. Babineaux (Lawrence) and Robert Keith Fontenot (Annette Bailey).
She was a graduate of McNeese State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences. She was an accomplished equestrian in the disciplines of show jumping, western pleasure, cutting and halter horses. As a member of 4-H she showed swine, having won LSU four times in the breeding show. She served as Cal-Cam Queen two years in a row, Miss Cracklin and Miss RAY-LA-NE.
Jessica always saw the best in every person she met.
She was on staff at the Stables at Lebocage for ten years where she worked in the therapeutic riding program and taught riding skills to young children.
Most recently she was with the Calcasieu Parish School Board in the office of Technology.
She loved her mentors Britta Jicks, Ginny Henning and Dr. Chip Lemieux, Provast at McNeese State University.
A member of Trinity Baptist Church, Jessica was a ray of sunshine to all who met her with a delightful sense of humor, and a contagious laugh that came from deep within.
Jessica had a very close relationship with Dr. Earl J. Soileau. He was a shining light throughout her life. We are grateful for his love and care.
Millie, her bulldog, was a special part of her life.
She is survived by her parents, Sheila and Lawrence Babineaux, Keith Fontenot and Annette Bailey; her love, Oscar Manuel Lizarraga; her brothers, Curtis Luke (Adelaide) and Bailey Fontenot; grandmother, Margie H. Fontenot; her niece Lila Fontenot.
The family will welcome friends on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2021 at University Baptist Church beginning at 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday, Dec. 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. Funeral led by The Honorable Judge Cynthia Guillory will begin at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Consolata Cemetery.
