A 16-year-old girl has been arrested in a shooting that left her friend hospitalized in critical condition.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said deputies were dispatched to a residence on Julia Street Saturday night in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, they located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Vincent said during further investigation, deputies learned the victim’s 16-year-old friend was responsible for the shooting.

She was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with aggravated second-degree battery.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital out of town and is listed in critical condition.
