Threats against Lake Charles College Prep continued to circulate on social media on Tuesday, following threats of gun violence initially appearing online last Friday. The school was placed on a lockdown and Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office quick response team was present throughout the day.

Deputies are actively investigating the threats, Kayla Vincent, CPSO public information officer, said and officers are still working to determine from which social media platform the threats originated. No arrests have been made at this time.

LCCP Superintendent Henry Mancuso said he has been informed by detectives that it is “quite possible that it’s the same person” making Friday and Tuesday’s threats. Amidst the lockdown, he said, “Calcasieu Parish is really conducting a thorough investigation. We hope to be able to resume regular education tomorrow.”

The high school’s lockdown ended at 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday “as it became clear there was no threat within the school,” Mancuso said. The investigation is still ongoing.
