Billy Jo Wayne Smith

VINTON – Billy Jo Wayne Smith, age 62, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021. Billy Jo was born on Sept. 5, 1958 in Orange, Texas.
He was a lifelong resident of Vinton and a 1976 graduate of Vinton High School. Billy Jo worked as a truck driver for Kent Materials in Westlake for several years. He was also employed with the Town of Vinton. Billy Jo enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was known for cracking jokes and a cold one with friends and family. This man never met a stranger!
He will be missed dearly by his wife, Tammie Mouton Smith; his mother, Lois Landry; his children, Eric (Chaly) Simon of Vinton, Jody (Tina) Mouton of Vinton, Christina Smith of Vinton, Samantha (Nick Tab) Smith of Spring, Texas, Marshal Smith of Vinton; his grandchildren, Talan, Kameron, Racen, Kinleigh, Cody, Bryce, and Harper; his sister, Gwen Klein of Vinton; his goddaughter, Natalie East of Vinton; and a host of extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his step-father, Maurice Krippse and later in life, Richard Landry; his grandparents, Bennie and Mildred Trahan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, Sept. 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. in Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton led by Celebrant, Jody Barrilleaux. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021 and will resume on Monday from 8 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Vinton. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonvinton.com
