In this edition of the Three Point Stance, Rodrick Anderson and Warren Arceneaux discuss the top defensive linemen in Southwest Louisiana.

Name a large schools lineman to watch.

WA: Jamari Condoll of Washington-Marion. One of the few Charging Indians with experience, Condoll will be a twoway starter and leader for W-M after the Charging Indians sat out last season. On defense, Condoll leads a defensive line that head coach Jules Sullen said has been one of the team’s strong suits in the offseason.

RA: Jennings’ Jayden Sonnier. The 5-11, 225-pound, two-year starter has added weight and muscle for his senior season after earning 4-3A first-team all-district honors in 2020, leading Jennings to the No. 1 seed in Class 3A.

Name a small schools lineman to watch.

WA: Merryville’s Cam’ron Williams generates headlines with his play on offense, but will be the Panthers big-play guy on defense this season, using his speed and athleticism to make plays all over the field.

RA: Hamilton’s Kevin Smith. He was a valuable pass rusher off the edge last season, causing havoc behind the line of scrimmage. Smith is one of nearly a dozen two-way senior starters that the Warriors are counting on this season.

Which school has the best returning group of linemen?

WA: Iota has a veteran group led by senior Ty Regan and juniors Carson Crochet, Wyatt Gobert and Jackson Aton. The Bulldogs allowed only 23 points over its final three games of last season.

RA: Rosepine has got a lot of attention for the stars they are returning on the offensive side, but the Eagles will have a strong defensive front led by second-team all-district lineman Cross Thomason (5-10, 260). Also back is seniors Logan Cheever and Casey Tilly (6-1, 245).
