Patricia Chalcraft Shope

Patricia Ann Chalcraft Shope, “Pat” 86, of Lake Charles
died Thursday, December 10, 2020 in the comfort of her home.
Mrs. Shope was a native of Baltimore, MD, where she was raised and educated. She was a graduate of School of Health where she attained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and later
a master’s degree. She retired as Lieutenant Colonel with twenty-five years of service in the United States Air Force. Mrs. Shope traveled with her career in the military and retired in Sun City West, AZ. She also served as Superintendent of the
State of Maryland Public School Nurses. In 2015 she made Lake Charles her home. Some of her greatest times where spent traveling by RV with her RV retiree group.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her extended family of her stepson, the
Late Ted Shope: one daughter-in-law, Brenda Trahan Shope of Longville; two grandchildren, Klancy Shope Leonard and husband Kelby and Darby Shope, both of Longville; and one great-granddaughter, Eleonora Ruth Leonard.
She was preceded in
death by her husband, Cpt. Theodore L. Shope, Sr., US Navy, Ret. and stepson, Dr. Ted L. Shope.
The family of Mrs. Shope wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Andrea Walker, Adele Zeno and Paula Jackson for their
excellence in care and kindness and for going above and beyond.
Memorial services will be held in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date.
Having a soft spot for animals and overwhelming love for her “fur
babies”, memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Shope may be made to any animal charity of choice.
