Roy Dennis Guidry Jr

Roy Dennis Guidry Jr., died Friday, December 11, 2020, in
Austin, Texas.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. He was a graduate of Landry High School (now St. Louis High School), and attended LSU, Louisiana Tech, and McNeese State University where he had served as the President of
the TKE Fraternity. Roy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur. He was an active member and officer of the Jaycee’s, and the US JCI Senate. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club, and was a lifetime member of the Houston
Livestock Show and Rodeo Association. He worked for many years for Cities Service where he helped organize the yearly employee picnic, then went on to finish his career with Exxon. Roy volunteered his time many years with the Pasadena Strawberry
Festival as well. He was an avid LSU fan, having held season tickets for 58 years. He enjoyed volunteering, traveling, LSU Football, and attending other sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Muriel Bruno Guidry of
Sulphur; his daughter, Miranda Guidry Darr and husband, Thomas Stone Darr of Austin, Texas; his sister, Judy Guidry Stracener and husband, Douglas Nealon Stracener of Prairieville, Louisiana; and his grandson, Britain Stone Darr of Austin, Texas. He
is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Dennis Guidry, Sr. and Mary Bertha Haydel Guidry.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, December 18, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will be in
Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home. Due to his deep love of helping others and for those wishing to honor
the life of Roy Guidry through a donation in lieu of flowers, the family suggests the St. Louis High School Foundation (https://www.slchs.org/foundation) or St. Jude
Children’s Hospital (www.st.jude.org). It is requested that all attendees of visitation and services for Mr. Guidry to please wear a mask or face covering.
