Vera Frances Schooler Caldwell
Vera Frances Schooler Caldwell, 95, of DeRidder, La, passed from this life on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020.
Frances has been the Grand Marshal of the annual Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade (2014) and was a member since the 1960s. She has also served on the Military Affairs Committee for several years. Frances served on the Board of Directors of the American Heart Association, the Board of Directors of the American Cancer, Beauregard Parish Library’s Board, Board of Trustees of the Beauregard Memorial Hospital, selected as Mardi Gras Queen in 1994, Board of Directors of City Savings Bank & Trust Company, Beauregard Vernon Sunrise Rotary Club, member of the DeRidder/Fort Polk Area Board of Realtors, and Secretary-Treasurer of Caldwell Housing Corporation. She was an active member of Westview Baptist Church.
She is preceded in her death by her parents, William and Irma Schooler; sister, Joan Gallion; brother, Clifton Schooler; her loving husband William “Bill” Caldwell
Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Linda Caldwell; sister, Bobbie Baccus; grandchildren, David Caldwell, Chris Caldwell, and Michell Laws; great grandchildren, Britney Flippo, Allie Laws, and Carson Laws.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La.

Samantha Marie “Sam” Clemons, age 27, of Sulphur, La died Wednesday, April 7, 2021. A Celebration of Life Service was Sunday, April 11, 2021 at 2 p.m. Samantha was laid to rest in Farquhar Cemetery with her father and brother. Arrangements were under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home.
Daisy M. Gilland
Daisy “Sissy” M. Gilland, 86, of DeQuincy, passed into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital. Sissy was born to her late parents, Charles and Daisy Gilland on March 20, 1935 in DeQuincy. She was employed for Gray Nissan, where she retired after 30 plus years. She then went to work for Hixson-Snider Funeral Home, where she served families with love for 16 years. To know Sissy was to love her, and she truly loved people and never met a stranger.
She is survived by her son, Joey Gilland of DeQuincy; four grandchildren, Laranda Andrews and Daniel Peterson of Central, La, Korey Ferjak and Austin Barry of Colorado Springs, Co, Hunter Gilland of DeQuincy, Dennis Andrews of Central, La six great grandchildren, Ashlyn Wilson, Dawson Andrews, Bryson Andrews, Aleece Andrews, Maison Andrews, Braxton Andrews; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Sissy is preceded in death by her two brothers, Charles William Gilland and Bobby Eugene Gilland; along with her sister, Lucille Gilland Hodges.
A Celebration of Sissy’s life will be held at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy Activities Center on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 10:00am. Pastor Wayne Neyland will officiate. Visitation will be at Hixson-Snider Funeral Home in DeQuincy, on Monday, April 12, 2021, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at The Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy Activities Center, beginning at 8 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery.
The family would like to express their sincerest thanks to the staff at DeQuincy Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion they showed to Sissy and her family during this difficult time.

Janet Curry LaBiche passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at home with her family by her side. She was born Feb. 27, 1965 in DeRidder, La.
Affectionately known as “Sug” by her friends and grandchild, Janet will be remembered as a thoughtful, kindhearted and generous person. She was a loving wife and mother, whose greatest joy was her family. She was a perfectionist, crafty, and she enjoyed being outdoors, usually tending to her flowers. She was a great cook, and a soccer mom who loved to shop. Little known to most people, she was an avid LSU baseball fan.
Those left to cherish her memory are, her husband, Scotte LaBiche; her daughter, Emily LaBiche; her son, Wesley LaBiche (Anne Marie), both of Lake Charles; her sisters, Patricia Credeur (Jeffery) of Welsh, La, and Licia Curry Kleinpeter (David) of DeRidder, La; her grandson, Levi James LaBiche; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Gary Curry, and Wanda Dees Schroeder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Father Levi Thompson. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at Lake City Baptist Church on Monday, April 12 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at Lake City Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.

Margie Elaine Helton Pruitt, 88, of DeRidder, La, passed from this life on Saturday, April 10, 2021.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jackie Pruitt of DeRidder, La, Tommy Pruitt of DeRidder, La; daughters, Tammie Gibson and Danny of DeRidder, La, Kelle Cole and Chris Jones of DeRidder, La; sisters, Johnnie Nolan and Ernie of Jacksonville, Fl; 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Pruitt; son, Richard Pruitt; parents, Richard and Dessie Helton; brother, Billy Helton; sisters, Shirley James, Melba Keel.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. at Myers Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La. Brother Jonathan Bell will officiate the service. Pallbearers will be Jeff Blanchard, Chad Pruitt, Doug Parker, Ethan Parker, Hunter Bednarek, Jeremy Worthey. Honorary Pallbearer will be Matt Loetscher. Burial will follow at Newlin Cemetery in Singer, La.
Services are under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder, La.
Norman John Sievert
Norman John Sievert found peace on April 6, 2021.
Norman was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on April 8, 1961. He attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic School and was a graduate of St. Louis Catholic High School in Lake Charles. After earning a degree in architecture from Rice University, he moved to the Pacific Northwest. While residing in Portland, Oregon he married, earned a law degree from Lewis & Clark College and began raising a family. A job opportunity moved him to Spokane, Washington where he resided for many years before moving to Houston, Texas in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lucille and Fred Sievert of Lake Charles, La. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa Sievert (Spring, Texas) and Kristen Sievert (Seattle, Wa), and his former spouse, Allison Brier (Spokane, Wa); five sisters, Jeanne M. Sievert (Deb W. King) of Fayetteville, Ark., Carmen Olivier (Lorrie) of Katy, Texas, Lucille Kaub of Lake Charles, La, Adele Hamer (Doug) of Lake Charles, La, and Anne Duhon (David) of Clinton, Ark.; two brothers Paul Sievert (Emily) of Dripping Springs, Texas and Ray Sievert (Nancy) of The Woodlands, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and an array of friends in Texas, Washington and Oregon.

Danny Young Jr.
VINTON – Danny Ray Young Jr., 47, passed away on April 9th, 2021 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital. He was born on November 16th, 1973 to his parents, Danny & Rose Young in Sulphur.
Danny was a 1991 graduate of Vinton High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines and U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He served two deployments in Kuwait during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Danny worked for Apache Industrial Services as a Site Safety Manager. He previously worked for the Vinton Police Dept. and Sulphur Fire Dept. Danny was a loving father to Tanner and Taylor and a great son, brother and friend to all who knew him. To all who knew him, you would NEVER forget him. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton and also attended St. Theresa Catholic Church. One of Danny’s most cherished things to do was watching and coaching Tanner on the baseball field and Taylor playing soccer! He will be remembered for his BIG heart, stubbornness, kind soul, wittiness, and his contagious personality that always made people smile. His patriotism and love for his country was never in doubt. He was a huge encouragement to kids and anyone he was around.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Tanner and Taylor Young of Sulphur; his loving mother, Rose Young of Carlyss; his sister, Michele Young Landry of Carlyss; his nephew, Caleb Landry; his grandmother, Mae “MeeMaw” Moleski; his aunt , JoJo Monfils and husband Ray; mother of his children, Tracey A. Young; his fur baby, Ricco, and a host of extended family including Cannon and Cruz Trosclair and wonderful friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his father, Danny Ray Young Sr.; his grandparents, Lou Ella and Robert F. Young, and Michael J. Moleski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Vinton. The Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate. Interment will be in Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly under the direction of Hixson Vinton Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 from 4-9 p.m. with a Rosary service at 6 p.m. in Hixson Vinton Funeral Home.
