Shantell Davis Allen, 42, died May 21 in a local hospital. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. June 13 at Fondel Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Doris Granger Fruge, 82, of Moss Bluff, La., passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. Doris was born Dec. 25, 1936.

Visitation will resume at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at St. Theodore Catholic Church in Moss Bluff. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Old Ritchie Cemetery.

Lorraine Stagg Ihle, 86, of DeRidder, died Saturday, June 8. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today, June 12, at Dry Creek Baptist Church. Burial will be at Beauregard Cemetery under the direction of Myers-Colonial Funeral Home in DeRidder.

”Charlie” Myers

Charles L. “Charlie” Myers, 68, of Lake Charles, died Sunday, June 9, 2019, in his home.

Mr. Myers was born and lived most of his life in Lake Charles. He was a graduate of Marion High School and proudly served the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 370. During his younger years Mr. Myers worked as a carpenter for the Carpenters Local Union 1075. His most accomplished works was as a Safety Inspector for Manhattan Construction Group, Inc. for which he inspected the AT&T Stadium, formerly Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, Texas, NRG Stadium (formerly) Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas, and the L’Auberge Casino Resort in Lake Charles. He retired in 2014, a Pipeline Safety Inspector. His most enjoyable times were spent cheering on the New Orleans Saints, watching old western cowboy movies and FISHING! Mr. Myers will be most remembered for his kind heart, giving nature and love of family. “He was happiest when he was helping others.”

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of 36 years, Debbie Stine Myers of Lake Charles; one daughter, Sheree Myers Wells and husband Jimmy of Westlake; three grandsons, Garrett Tucker and wife Taylor of London, Gavin Myers of Lake Charles, and Dominick Myers of Moss Bluff; one granddaughter, Gabrielle Myers of Grand Lake; two sisters, Trish Dickerson of Lake Charles, and Brenda Aucoin of Sulphur; mother-in-law, Melba Stine of Lake Charles; nieces and nephews and his precious “fur babies,” Anni and Wooster.

He was preceded in death by his son, Shane Charles Myers; parents, Nelson and Frankie Jenkins Myers; two brothers, Ron Myers and Donnie Myers; two sisters, Mona Green and Vickie Myers; father-in-law, Edgar “Mano” Stine; and “fur babies,” Daisy and Miss Kitty.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13, 2019, in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. John Robert Black will officiate. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Iowa, La. Visitation Wednesday will be from 5-7 p.m. and will resume from 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.

Annette Robertson, 88, of Lake Charles, died Saturday, June 8, at a local care facility. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today, June 12, at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery.

Larry Lee Simon

HACKBERRY — Larry Lee Simon was born on Oct. 15, 1946, in Hackberry, La., to Rogers and Magdaline Simon. He passed away on June 10 in Lake Charles, La.

He was married to Grace “Tookie” Simon on June 18, 1966. Larry was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked in the construction and oilfield industry until his retirement at age 62. After retirement, he enjoyed commercial crabbing and fishing.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Grace “Tookie” Simon of Hackberry; his children, Rodney Simon and wife Julia of Spurger, Texas, and Destiny Simon of Hackberry; two brothers, Jimmy Simon and wife Cathy of Spring, Texas, and Bryant Simon and wife Kathleen of Hackberry; four grandchildren, Nathan Berwick, Colyn Walding, Coltyn Simon, and Rilyn Simon; and two great-grandchildren, Addelynn Berwick and Devon Lee Seay. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rogers and Magdaline Simon; his daughter, Christine Mae Simon; a brother, Kenneth Simon; and a grandson, Devon Kenneth Simon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 14, in St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Hackberry. The Rev. Arvind Minz, HGN will officiate. Burial will be in Hackberry Cemetery under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held in the church from 4-9 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service at 6 p.m. and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday.

Henry James Spillman

Henry James Spillman, 75, of Lake Charles, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at a local hospital.

Mr. Spillman was born on March 10, 1944, in Jonesboro, La. He was a graduate of Lake Charles Boston High School and later served his country in the U.S. Army Special Forces as a Green Beret. He served during Vietnam.

Mr. Spillman is survived by his loving wife, Olga Spillman of Lake Charles; two sisters, Elsie Thomas and Dianne; three children, Henry Spillman Jr., Christopher Spillman and Janice Renee; and several grandchildren and extended family.

Henry was a kind and gentle person who was loved by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.

The family has entrusted Mr. Spillman to the care of Simple Traditions by Johnson Funeral Home. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Kyle Townsend

Barry Kyle Townsend, 55, of Ruston, died Saturday, June 8, 2019. Memorial service will be at a later date.

Mr. Townsend was born Dec. 2, 1963, in Bastrop, La. He died in Ruston, June 8, 2019. Mr. Townsend graduated Lake Charles High School in 1982, Sowela Tech Institute. He was an Electrician. He was a lifelong diehard Saints Fan.

He was preceded in death by parents, Carroll and Pat Townsend. Mr. Townsend is survived by daughter, Sammantha Ann Townsend of Shreveport; grandchildren: Reginald J. Townsend and Samuel Kyle Townsend of Shreveport; brothers, Kelly Townsend of Ruston, and Kirk (Angela) Townsend of Farmerville; nephews, Levi and Logan Townsend of Farmerville.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Institute or the National Kidney Foundation.
