Tennis team to play twice in Texas
The McNeese State women’s tennis team will play at Texas-San Antonio in a nonconference match at 1 p.m. Friday.
The Cowgirls (3-4) have won their last two matches and are coming off a sweep of Alcorn State. They are led by Charoline Erlandsson (7-0).
The UTSA (4-4), which played its first six matches on the road, has won its last two matches, against winless Incarnate Word and Prairie View A&M, which the Cowgirls swept on Feb. 8.
The Cowgirls will travel to San Marcos to play Texas State at noon Saturday. The Bobcats (2-3) have lost their last three matches and are 0-2 at home.
Cross country teams get academic award
McNeese State’s cross country were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their work in the classroom and were named to the all-academic team list.
It was the seventh consecutive year for the Cowgirls to be honored and 10th time in the 12 seasons, while the Cowboys have accomplished the feat in three consecutive years.
The Cowgirls posted a 3.51 grade-point average in the fall semester while the Cowboys finished with a 3.24 mark.
