LCLT’s production is girl-loves-ghoul musical

“Zombie Prom – Atomic Edition,” a junior production of the Lake Charles Little Theatre, will put on five performances starting with its first show at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 2, on the LCLT stage.
“It’s not a scary-zombie type of show,” said Damian Thibodeaux, director of the production. “It’s a show that’s suitable for the whole family.”

The girl-loves-ghoul rock and roll Off-Broadway musical is set in the 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal played by Mary Hope McDaniel.
Leslie Israel portrays a senior, Toffee, who has fallen for the class bad boy, Jonny, portrayed by Clay Corley.
As the play continues, family pressures force Toffee to end her romance with Jonny and he charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump.
Jonny returns “glowing” and determined to reclaim Toffee’s heart. He wants to graduate but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom.
The principal isn’t his biggest fan and drama ensues while a playlist of 50s songs keeps the stage rocking.
Additional shows will take place at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 3 and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, June 4.
