Escalante Golf has acquired the Gray Plantation Golf Club and The Sports Club at Graywood, according to a news release issued Wednesday night.

“This is great news for Graywood, our members, and the region,” says Harold Stream, CEO of The Stream Companies and developer of Graywood LLC. “We have a huge investment in this community so it is important that we have the right partner owning the clubs as we continue to build out Graywood. Escalante owns and manages some of the premier, highest-quality clubs in the country. We are thrilled that a company of their caliber has chosen to invest in Lake Charles and in the Graywood community. We should all be pleased that they recognize the world-class quality of our clubs and the fundamental strength of our region.”

Gray Plantation has been named one of “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses” by Golf Digest and is perennially recognized as one of the best courses in Louisiana by Golf Digest and GOLF Magazine.

The acquisition of Gray Plantation and The Sports Club at Graywood strengthens Escalante’s portfolio, which includes 13 properties. The company’s top club are Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Fla.; The Raven at Three Peaks in Silverthorne, Co.; The Crosby National in Rancho Santa Fe; and Country Club of the North in Beavercreek, Ohio.

Established in 1991, Escalante Golf is a boutique owner and operator of luxury golf properties nationwide, including California, Colorado, Florida, Ohio and New Mexico. Operating partners David McDonald, Elcio Silva, Robert Silva and David Matheson direct the Escalante team with offices in Fort Worth, Tex.
