Informer: Agency head says investigation needed to see if fraud occurred

I want to know about bingo fraud. I bingoed one Friday night for $500 while playing on somebody else’s card. I only got $50 because it wasn’t my card. The owner of the bingo hall kept $450 and put it in her pocket. Is that bingo fraud?
It might be.
But Michael Legendre, director of the state Revenue Department’s Office of Charitable Gaming, said his office would need to look into the allegation before he could say for sure.
He said the reader should submit a written complaint, featuring as many details as possible, to his office. Complaints can be submitted via an “incident form,” available on the agency’s website, or a letter, he said.
The agency’s address is P.O. Box 98502, Baton Rouge, LA 70884. Complainants can remain anonymous, but Legendre said that “if they are expecting a response from our investigation, we will need to know who to contact.”
“Once this office receives the complaint, we can fully investigate and determine any actions that may need to take place,” he wrote in an email.

NO BONUS OK’D FOR SCHOOL YEAR
I heard that Calcasieu Parish School Board employees are going to get a bonus this December. Is that true?
No, said Karl Bruchhaus, school system chief financial officer.
“No comprehensive employee salary supplement has been recommended to the Calcasieu Parish School Board for the 2011-2012 fiscal year,” he said in a statement forwarded to The Informer.

ONE LAW ON RECALL OF TAX PROPOSITIONS
Is there any provision in state law that allows for a recall election for a tax proposition?
Yes, but only for sales taxes in Rapides Parish. The provision, newly designated R.S. 47:338.161, was passed in 1979. It mandates a recall election if a fourth of voters in a Rapides taxing district sign a petition for repeal.
“To my knowledge, it’s never been used,” said Donna Andries, administrator for the Rapides Parish Sales Tax Department.
