An Iowa, La., man died after an electrocution accident Wednesday at PPG, authorities said.

R & R Construction contractor Garrick Deshotel, 24, was working on a chlor-alkali unit when he came in contact with high-voltage electricity, PPG spokesman Jeremy Neuhart said.

“First and foremost, everyone at PPG is saddened by this tragedy,” he said. “We extend out deepest sympathies to the victim’s family and co-workers.”

Deshotel was taken to Christus St. Patrick Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Neuhart said.

He said PPG will likely launch an internal investigation into the accident within the next few days. Neuhart said officials believe the accident was an isolated incident.

R & R Construction representatives declined to comment on the accident.
