Do DWIs fall off your record after a certain length of time?

Yes.

Convictions for driving while intoxicated, vehicle negligent injury and out-of-service violations stay on drivers’ records for 10 years.

Other offenses and durations, as listed on the website of the state Office of Motor Vehicles:

“Other major traffic convictions (suspendable/disqualifying violations) remain on the record for 5 years from the date of conviction.”

“Minor traffic convictions remain on the record for 3 years from the date of conviction.”

“Accidents that are suspended for Financial Responsibility remain on the record until the accident is reinstated.”

Law has exceptions for service dogs

Is a service dog allowed to ride the Lake Charles Transit System bus line?

Both the city code and state law make allowances for disabled people who require service dogs’ help.

The city code says that the prohibition on bus-riding animals “shall not apply to seeing-eye dogs for the blind.”

And Louisiana R.S. 21:52 says:

“Any blind person, visually handicapped person, deaf person, hearing impaired person, or otherwise physically disabled person who is accompanied by a properly controlled dog which such person has been taught to use as a guide or for service at a qualified dog guide or service school … is entitled to the full and equal  accommodations, advantages, facilities, and privileges of all public accommodation, amusement, or resort, and other places to which the general public is invited, and shall be entitled to take such dog into such conveyances and places, subject only to the accommodations and limitations applicable to all persons not so accompanied, provided that the dog shall not occupy a seat in any public conveyance.”

Additionally, the law says the person accompanied by the dog must be able to provide proof of the animal’s training.

What happened to Glen “Big Baby” Davis, a basketball player from LSU? He played for the Boston Celtics, then they traded him and I haven’t seen his name in the paper. If you could find out, I’d appreciate it.

Davis now plays for the Orlando Magic.

“In 2007, Glen was drafted as the 35th pick by the Seattle Supersonics, who immediately traded him to the Boston Celtics as part of the Ray Allen trade. He won a championship in his rookie season with the Boston Celtics in 2007-2008,” reads the biography on Davis’ website.

“After four prosperous years in Boston, Glen was acquired by the Orlando Magic and started the next chapter in his professional career on December 25, 2011.”
