ELTON — Two Lafayette residents died Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. 190 and La. 26, state police said.

Ushaben Patel, 53, was driving north on La. 26 when he failed to stop at a stop sign, said Sgt. James Anderson.

Patel’s vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a westbound vehicle driven by James Felix, 42, of Carencro, Anderson said.

Patel and her front-seat passenger, Dhanubed Patel, 64, were killed, but two other passengers suffered mild to moderate injuries, he said. Felix suffered minor injuries.
