State legislators honor Vincent family

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">BATON ROUGE — Legislators Tuesday recognized the family of the late Senior Trooper Steven James Vincent, who died in the line of duty on Aug. 24.</span>
<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Senate Concurrent Resolution 16, adopted by members of the Senate and House, was read while the members of Vincent’s family were in the House chamber. They received a round of applause.</span>
<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Members of the family are his wife, Katherine Tilley Vincent; son, Ethan James Vincent, 9; father, James Howard Vincent; mother, Mildred Marie Arabie Vincent; two sisters, Renae Perry and Miranda Priola; and two brothers, Keith and Terrell Vincent.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Gov. John Bel Edwards has signed a bill by Sen. Dan “Blade” Morrish, R-Jennings, that designates part of La. 14 in Calcasieu Parish as the “Louisiana State Trooper Steven Vincent Memorial Highway.” It became Act 1 of the 2016 session.</span>
<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">The resolution notes that Vincent, assigned to state police Troop D, was a lifelong resident of Louisiana who lived in Iowa. He served with the Lake Charles Police Department for 11 years and with state police for 13 years. Terrell Vincent is a state trooper, and Keith Vincent is Iowa police chief.</span>
<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">Col. Mike Edmonson, state police superintendent, earlier said, “Trooper Vincent embodied what it meant to be a Louisiana state trooper and a first responder. He epitomized all that is great about our organization. He didn’t just believe in our core values; he lived them. The citizens of this state were well-served by Vincent.”</span>
