La. GOP chose delegates week after primary

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">The Louisiana Republican State Convention chose its delegates March 12, one week after the state presidential preference primary.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">“Louisiana receives 46 votes at the national convention. Under party rules, Louisiana’s delegates were awarded to presidential candidates proportionally, based upon the votes they received in the March 5 Presidential Preference Primary,” reads a GOP news release issued March 14.</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">“Donald Trump and Ted Cruz earned 18 delegates each. Five delegates were allocated to Marco Rubio and five are uncommitted. Three of the uncommitted delegates are automatic delegates as they are Louisiana’s Republican National Committee members.”</span>

<span class="R~sep~ACopyBody">According to The Associated Press, Donald Trump has 996 of the 1,237 delegates he needs to win the Republican nomination. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz has 565, and Ohio Gov. John Kasich has 153.</span>
